A new Encounter programme is starting in the Calderdale circuit this autumn.  The programme will be based at Christ Church LEP at Hipperholme near Halifax. Several people have already registered their interest in joining the programme but there are still a few places available.

A taster session for the programme is being held on the evening of Tuesday 17th September at Christ Church, starting at 7.00pm and finishing at 9.00pm.  There will be drinks available before the session begins. At the evening the Encounter programme will be explained fully and you will be able to experience the type of activities that will be included on Encounter sessions.  The programme leaders will provide an explanation of the various components of the programme and answer any questions people have about being involved in Encounter.

If you would like to come along to the taster session please send us your details via the General Query section of the Contacts page of this website and we'll pass them onto the programme leaders.

Welcome to the new Encounter programme website, which is being launched today!  Arising from the Methodist Church’s Extending Discipleship, Exploring Vocation (EDEV) initiative, Encounter provides a year-long programme for a small group to consider  what God may be calling them to do with their lives.

On the website you can discover more about what is involved in Encounter and see if the programme is something you would like to be involved in, either as a participant or as one of a team that facilitates the programmes.  There are sections on the website that describe what is involved in Encounter and in the roles of programme facilitators and Encounter Accompanists.

If you are already involved in an Encounter programme, there are sections on the website you will find useful.  For explorers, the Connections page will provide you with ideas for activities and opportunities that you can take up as part of your vocational exploration on the Encounter programme.  For programme facilitators, there is a password protected section of the site that will contain resources to help you plan and run a programme, including a new set of programme notes.  For Accompanists, there is another secure area where resources to help you in your role will be placed.

This Blog will be used to provide details of new programmes, news from existing programmes, and information about items that may be of interest to everyone involved in Encounter.  If you have anything you would like to share with others, including photos or video clips, or have any suggestions or ideas for the website, please get in touch with us through the messaging facility on the Contacts page.
